Yoga

Hatha
Reconnect with your body through mindful movement balanced with stillness. Asana (poses) to stretch, strengthen, and release tension in lying, seated and standing positions. The aim is not to be be able to “do” the poses perfectly, but rather to use the pose to find a way back to presence and grounding within your body.
“Yoga is not about touching your toes, it’s about what you learn on the way down.” - Judith Hanson Lasater

Somatic
Gentle movement to soothe the nervous system, ground, and reconnect with Self. Learning to do less, an invitation to soften, to be guided by body rather than mind as you begin to unravel layers of deeply held tension and emotion from within the tissues of the body.

Restorative A deeply relaxing form of yoga that turns on the body’s natural healing response, by combining gentle poses with conscious breathing. It provides many of the benefits of yoga but without the effort, so it’s perfect for times of low energy, fatigue, menstruation, stress, illness or injury, or when you’re just so busy that all you want to do is nothing Restorative yoga helps to rejuvenate your nervous system, revives depleted energy, and guides you to listen to your body and work with your energy, rather than against it. We will use bolsters, blocks and cushions for support so that your muscles feel safe to let go. Poses are all lying or seated, and are held for 5-20 minutes. Once you’re settled comfortably into a pose, all you have to do is be still, breathe, and relax…

Combining traditional yoga practices with modern neuroscience, this course addresses underlying issues to restore good quality sleep, with immediate results that build over time. Just a few of the things you will learn:

  • Quick, effective ways to wake up and get going in the morning
  • How to revive flagging energy in the afternoon slump time (without caffeine and sugar!)
  • Simple practices that can be done anytime, anywhere, to reduce anxiety and stress that stop you sleeping at night
  • Retrain body and mind to be able to fall asleep quickly, and then to stay asleep
  • What to do about the flood of thoughts that appear when the light goes off!

Just a few minutes in the day and 10 minutes before bed - you don’t even need a yoga mat!

I slept with no long periods of wakefulness last night. Woke up once and went straight back to sleep.” - Chrystal - 6 week sleep course
