When you’re thinking about having a reading, the first thing you need to decide is exactly what kind of reading you want. Tarot card readings and mediumship are completely different, so you need to think first about what it is that you’re seeking. In short, a tarot card reading is about you and offers guidance, while a mediumship reading is a way to communicate with a loved one who has passed.

A tarot card reading talks about you, what you have going on, what’s helping or hindering a particular situation, and empowers you to take inspired action or make changes. It is a psychic reading, which means I’m reading your energy. A tarot card reading can be helpful for example when you have a decision to make, when you’re preparing for a job interview, or when you’re feeling a bit flat or stuck and you’re unsure of your next steps, or even how to get moving.

There will be no predictions or telling you what to do in my readings; you have free will to do whatever you want. It will, however, bring to light anything that you need to take into consideration, and suggest where your focus and energy might be best placed at this time. A tarot card reading – one with myself at least! – will put the ball firmly back in your court, and it will be up to you if and how you proceed.

The purpose of a mediumship reading is for you to reconnect with a friend or loved one who has passed. The medium will act as the middleman, if you like, to communicate with the person in spirit, and bring through specific evidence about them so you know for sure it’s your person. The reading is primarily about who they were, stories of their life, memories of their time with you, their hopes, dreams, disappointments, funny habits… Anything they want to talk about and remind you of. They may have a message for you, but often they just want you to know they’re OK and haven’t gone anywhere, even though you can no longer see them.

As with a tarot card reading, please make your own decisions, and don’t be tempted to do something just because a medium tells you that your grandmother, neighbour, childhood buddy thinks you should! It might sound obvious, but I recently did a card reading for a lady who was disappointed that her mum hadn’t come through to tell her whether or not she should leave her partner – even though she admitted there was no way she would ever have sought, or taken, her mum’s advice when she was alive (and even though I had explained what a card reading involved before we started)!

Hopefully this has given you a better understanding of how tarot and mediumship readings differ. They each serve a very different purpose, so be sure to think about what it is you need before booking a reading. As always, feel free to send me your questions or comments, and don’t forget to watch this week’s card reading for the collective on FB and Insta.
